Creative Clinical Training
A programme that uses anatomical historical collections and physician's anatomy to explore if creative observation can enhance clinical observation. Bespoke workshops also bring a positive impact on issues participants deal with as part of being a practicing clinician. The programme includes Visual Literacy: Seeing the Skin and Creative Clinical training projects. Visual Literacy training is the only type in the UK where participants create art to develop visual language skills. Workshops are designed to encourage participants to think and view anatomy in a different way.
The programme has worked with prestigious collections and organisations including The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD), The Royal College of Physicians' Museum (London), Derby Museums & Art Gallery and The Willan Library. Aspects of the programme have been presented at the 11th International Health & Humanities Conference, exhibited at the 104th BAD Conference and as part of the Joseph Wright, A life on paper exhibition (Derby Museums). An article has been accepted for the Clinical and Experimental Dermatology Journal.
