Medical Museum
The UHDB Medical Museum Project preserves and shares the rich heritage of University Hospitals of Derby & Burton NHS Trust (UHDB). The heritage is unique in the fact that is the only UK NHS Trust with links to a World Heritage Site. William Strutt, who part founded the mills in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site also founded the first hospital in Derby, The Derbyshire General Infirmary.
Medical Museum Artefacts
The collection is diverse, from the ceremonial tools used by Queen Victoria to lay the foundation stones of Derbyshire Royal Infirmary, prestigious Florence Nightingale related objects and everyday medical artefacts that chart the changing nature of the NHS. The collection is a wonderful resource, used for patient engagement, staff clinical training, academic research , creative workshops and exhibitions. Permanent displays of the collection can be found at each of the UHDB hospital sites.
