Organise your own fundraising event

If you would like to fundraise for Derby and Burton Hospitals Charity, but you are not sure how to do it or want some great ideas, we can help you. 
 
One way to support us is to put on a fundraising event. You can do this in your spare time, at work (if they will allow you). It's very rewarding and great fun.

  • Our supporters who organise events to raise funds for our charity are very important to us.   We are always happy to support you and provide any advice you may need.  We can support you by: 

    • Offering advice and sharing our expertise during the early stages of your fundraising

    • Providing collection buckets, tins and t-shirts

    • Promoting your event on our social media channels

    • Supplying you with poster templates and our "In Aid of logo"

    • Telling your fundraising story on our website and across our social channels

    • Coming to speak to your group, school or company about our charity

    Our expert team can also help you plan your event so it is legal and safe.  There is legislation around food preparation and handling and managing raffles which we can help you navigate.   For more information, please complete our fundraising form. 

  • It's always best to come up with a budget when you are at your ideas stage.

    You should factor in all costs for things like venue hire, any supplies you will need, food, drinks, equipment etc.   A great way to keep costs low is to speak to local businesses to see if they'd be happy to provide you with a venue for free.   

    If you are holding a raffle or tombola, it's a great idea to reach out to local businesses to ask them for donation. Some businesses will donate vouchers or goods. 

    Sometimes they will provide a prize or even offer to sponsor your event in exchange for some advertising.  This may be putting their logo on any promotional materials you produce for your event.

    If you need a letter to show that you are raising funds in aid of our charity, please let us know. We'd be happy to provide you with one.

  • We think that anything goes as long as it is legal, ethical and most importantly safe. We have a whole host of supporters who organise some amazing fundraising events.   Some of them choose to organise cake sales, wine and cheese nights, bike rides, charity football matches, cricket matches.  Some like to organise fashion shows, coffee mornings and walks in our lovely countryside.

    It's a great idea to grab a few friends or colleagues and use your imagination to come up with some ideas. Then narrow it down to one that is best for you.
